What is a QME?
Qualified Medical Evaluators (QMEs) are medical professionals who are certified by the California Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) to examine injured workers, sometimes in-person or remotely, to evaluate disability and write medical-legal reports. The reports are used to determine an injured worker’s eligibility for workers’ compensation benefits.
QMEs are selected to provide an unbiased analysis of an injured worker as part of a claim covered by the employer’s insurance. As an independent third-party, your role in providing an evaluation helps to fairly and accurately identify the scope of injury and the rehabilitation required.
